After years of raising a family, working in education and social services, volunteering in community building programs we are going to do something for ourselves - take a three month trip in our small RV, a Pleasure Way van. The idea arose from a three week trip we took last year in which we found our relationship flourishing when the pressures of life were reduced to where will we stay that evening and what time we'll start in the morning. We had time for each other and found, even after 41 years of marriage, we still liked being in each other's company. It was similar to dating again, but without sophomoric stunts of those days long ago. Thank goodness I have matured some.
THE PLAN is to start driving north from our home is Southern Oregon and turn right when we feel like it. The trip East will have no preconceived form except to turn right once again when we are imminently threatened by an ocean in front of us. We hope to return home around December 1st with a load of memories, a ton of new experiences and a permanent smile on our faces.
Travels with Cheryl will begin once we stop generating lists of things to do, lists of things not to do, lists of things to take, lists of things to learn how to do without and lists of lists that still have to be made.

I am soooo happy for you guys!! You will have such a fabulous time. I can't give you any ideas for traveling across the country but I can tell you that when you reach the east coast Washington DC, Annapolis MD, Skyline Drive, North Carolina, and most points in between are fabulous!! There's so much to see - Broadway in New York!! I'm jealous. I'm also glad you got a granddaughter!! Congrats. Adam and Amy are having our first grandchild the first part of December. Needless to say Sandy Lipsey and I will be in Reno alot!! We're getting a seat of some kind for the little munchkin to sit in so we can take him/her on the golf course with us while we babysit - multi-tasking - isn't that what we learned working for the school district!!?? Have tons of fun - and I'll look forward to seeing those smiles when you return!! Vicki Mitchell

What a fantastic trip you'll have!ToUyen and I are thrilled for you that you are following through with your original inspiration and that you didn't come to your senses and stay at home like well-behaved people (hee-hee). We look forward to your comments and lots of photos. Your new grandaughter can't wait to see you. --All our love.

p.s. You'll need to give your van a name, just like they do for ships. Besides, if you give the van a name, talk nicely to it now and then, maybe it won't go on strike somewhere in North Dakota ;-)

I guess my first blog is in the fog somewhere. If you did not get it, here is the jist of it: Library of Congress, Gateway Arch in St. Louis. Rmemeber Utah and let us know if you are coming. I will show you something more exciting than the last time you were here. God's speed and take your time. Thad
